I hate using my roof rack on my car.. ruins the look of the car and constantly breaking my back lifting it up and down every weekend at the trials.
Test drove an Integra today to replace my 2009 A3 wagon with roof racks. Very impressed in every way. I too find my racks loud and annoying. Time for something new. Amazed at the space with the seats down. Definitely perfect for cycling, commuting and fun. Put a deposit down and hope I get mine before late Fall.

That Hiplock is pretty cool. If I'm not able to get a hitch installed this fall I may go that route. In the meantime I just picked up 2 furniture blankets from Harbour Freight. One to cover the trunk/setbacks the other will cover the bike to keep dirt from blowing off it.
When fitting your bike into a car, make sure that the chain, brakes, and derailleurs are also facing up. These bike components are prone to damage, and securing their position is very important. Ensure that the chain will not spill grease and that the derailleurs are not bent to prevent them from breaking.
I received my mat and seat back protectors this week so I took it mountain biking today. I found it a little easier to load the bike rear end first (this is a medium size 29er from 2011 if anyone’s curious).
The cargo pocket is a good place for my helmet.

I was happy to not have to remove the cargo cover. My last couple of wagons had a rolling cover that had to be removed.

May I suggest a blanket or two to keep dirt and dust from working it's way into everything including the headliner.

This is important because you don't want to load a bike on a rack that can't handle the "pressure", the type of bike you ride, your budget, and safety. Not all rear mounts work with all bikes, so be careful when shopping For example, if your bike has disc brakes, you should make sure you choose a model specifically designed to work with disc brakes Most brackets have a mounting bracket that attaches to the bracket or a solder wire eyelet near the bottom of the back of your frame.
