Hi everyone! I just wanted to ask if anyone had the same experience. My 2001 Subaru Impreza is using up more engine oil as usual. My husband checked it and he said that we should replace the piston rings and rod bearings to avoid the leakage. Since getting this fixed in a shop might cost us a lot. I've read in one of the other forums I joined that they bought theirs here at parts.subaruonlineparts.com . Has anyone of you tried buying from them as well? Can you please share your thoughts with this one. Any reply will be much appreciated. Thank you very much!
Boxer engines are notorious for ringland failures and well as piston ring failures. The fix is to buy an engine that has vertically moving pistons to prevent uneven lubrication of wear surfaces.
