Hey everyone.

Wanted to pose a question for the audiophiles out there. I recently started listening to lossless audio through a wired Carplay connection. What's your impression of the DTS surround sound mode offered by ELS? I am dipping my toes into the HiFi world and want to make sure I am optimizing the sound of these upgraded speakers. Is DTS more of a gimmick? Thanks in advance.

Personally I think it’s a gimmick on the Integra. It’s simulated surround sound from stereo sources. I’d just prefer stereo for stereo music. I think the audio system sounds good, but I don’t bother with fake surround sound.

Acura’s other cars with ELS can actually play true multi channel surround sound, like FLAC on a USB drive. I wanted to try that, but the Integra doesn’t support true surround sound, even if there are enough speakers. Everything gets down mixed to stereo first and then simulated if you have DTS turned on.

if you like how your music sounds with DTS, use it. If you don’t, turn it off. But I don’t think you’re missing out if you turn it off and stick to lossless, wired stereo.
