I just don’t understand how they calculate those numbers. In every manual transmission car I’ve owned, I never got anywhere close to the city number (meaning my MPG was always higher). I haven’t owned a CVT equipped car, but in the automatics I’ve owned, I’ve gotten below the city number many times.

Me too. I'm no hyper-miler, but generally drive in mellow mode (unless I'm not in mellow mode). I don't break down my highway/city ratios, but have always gotten better than EPA numbers in my manual cars (Acccord/MR2/Expo/Matrix/Mazda3).

Agree with these observations. Our Accord EX MT is rated at 34 highway -- we routinely get 40+ in warmer months.

I expect the 6MT Integra will get close to 40 mpg on the highway.

Now that people are starting to pick up their Integras what kind of fuel economy is everyone getting? Is it close to what the EPA numbers are?

my first 130 miles have been averaging 28.5 mpg. I'm not exactly babying it either.

From what I've read of the 22 Civic SI reports/reviews, 30 overall and 40 highway are not uncommon numbers. Honda motors traditionally need 10,000 miles plus before they start to deliver their best mpg numbers.

That's not bad at all especially if you like to do some "spirited" driving. Maybe that number will go up as you put more miles on to @JRMCR's point.

We just returned from a little errand -- 44.8 MPG on the highway. Honda EarthDreams 2.4 with 6MT. Amazing.

During the summer, we always average over 30 combined; in the winter it may slip to 28-29.
