Integra and HomeLink

Just got my new car! I noticed folks in these forums posting about no HomeLink and just wanted to confirm. My rearview mirror does have buttons on them that typically implies a garage opener, but pressing on them doesn't seem to do anything compared to online videos I'm seeing for how the HomeLink system operates.

Does that sound right for other Integra owners out there? I expected no buttons at all given it's not supported apparently (can't seem to find any mention in the manual), but it's strange that the buttons are there.

The button may be to deactivate the auto-dimming mirror functionality?

Nope, I have a power button presumably for that. Then three other buttons labeled 1/2/3. It looks similar to the rearview mirrors on HomeLink setup YouTube guides for the latest civics. Except my buttons don't do anything.

Sure, this is what it looks like. Seems to be just a defunct home link but it's sorta awkward. I wonder if there's any way to enable it.

Interesting...That definely loos like it would be homelink. Do the buttons light up when you push them?
Nope, nothing seems to react on any press. Does yours not have the buttons at all? That would be a strange manufacturing quirk.

Nope. My guess is the integra was supposed to come with homelink but supply shortages or a last minute change meant they didn't do it.

Interesting - You also don't have the "Frameless Rearview Mirror" which is listed as standard for all trims on the 2023 Integra Pricing and Specs page.

Yeah that's funny - maybe they had some rearviewmirrors with the homelink buttons on them when they built yours. Mine was built in early August and I just have the power button for the dimming:

That unit looks really close to the homelink systems that come on the newer civics with homelink option (only on sport touring).
Since im sure both the new Integra and Civic comes from the same plant, my guess is they probably ran out of the regular non-homelink mirrors and just took parts from the civic bin, or maybe there was a mix up of inventory and they just installed it on yours.

That is really interesting. I wonder where the “functionality” of homelink lives? Is it just in the mirror or is it wired to something inside the car? I’ve seen cars that don’t come with Homelink that offer it as a dealer installed option where they just swap out the mirror. If you could just get power to it, I’d be interested if it would work.

I think you're right and the homelink is within the mirror itself, and just needs the appropriate harness to power it up.
Trying to find something online, I found this spare part homelink mirror that looks identical to the one posted.
HomeLink Auto Dimming Mirror
Reading thru the instructions, it looks like its just a direct swap and just needs the harness.
But now i'm curious if the harness connected in OPs homelink mirror only powers up the auto-dimming mirror?
Or if it also powers up the homelink as well? OR is there two separate harness connectors for homelink and auto-dimming? hmm.

Yea, the dealer is ordering a new mirror for me and swapping it out. I asked the same question and they told me they aren't allowed to change the electronics of the car so if the mirror I have is theoretically enableable via some power, they're not allowed to check/enable it.

The fact that it's not working makes me think the car itself has to enable it, but I guess when they swap it out they might see just a dangling wire.

So I work at a dealership and I have a customer asking me why they stopped putting the garage opener in cars. I was surprised to find that this is not standard equipment, and according to a worker at the Honda factory, this rearview mirror is from a Civic. Not sure how it ended up in your Integra...my guess is maybe parts shortages?

Also- maybe the dealer did it? Seems strange

Welcome to the forum @84732acura. Is there an alternative you/your dealership has been recommending to customers interested in getting a garage opener?

If that's something the factory is doing that brutal quality control just to get cars out. Makes you wonder what other parts they could be swapping out for something else.
yea, sorta sketch. But I got it replaced for free and it was no big deal at the end of the day.

@JimmyM01 , the Acura dealership I was at specifically called out against using any alternative due to it potentially affecting the other electronics within the car. I'm suspicious about that statement but I'm not sure official dealerships would provide that advice.
2023 Integra A-Spec Package with tech upgrade and no garage door opener button. Love the car and features but why did Acura skimp on this item everyone uses ? Unbelievable.
