2022 Mazda CX-30, no wait. it’s a much better and less expensive vehicle, probably $10k-15k. It’s hard to find something because the integra is so overpriced and underperforming. Golf Gti, nope, this car couldn’t compete against that one… maybe the Corolla GR, nah, it’s way beyond this car or the type s… All those vehicles have far superior head compared to this vehicle, I would definitely experience how poor it is first hand before buying. Anyway something in a similar segment, performance and price, I know you conveniently left performance, because of your denial about this car…

Close enough. This car performs like crazy, you can't seriously put it in the of vehicles Acura mentions in its press because they are smaller than this, more marketing crap. Just buy the a Civic, real leather and its better looking, people won't make laugh at you

I cross shopped all of these too. Came up with same conclusions like you. Also checked out the VW GLI, but its a sedan with less usable trunk.

Same goes for the Hyundai Elantra N and N line. Also their design is polarising. Dealers want 10% over MSRP to start with.

Researched the Mazda CX-5 (Mazda's always handled great) but manuals are very hard to find with less than 50k miles...and at least 4-5 years old. It is also down on power and has no LSD or decent tech.

Regarding german reliability-they depreciate fast for a reason. Mine cost me $3200 for the timing and oil chain etc.Thankfulky, BMW lost the class action, and after 2 years, covered the bill. Otherwise, its been great

My 300hp CVT-equipped Maxima gets 5.7 sec by comparison, 400lb heavier vehicle with 2 more liters in a V6 layout. The 2014 Altima 2.5 I4 180hp / 182 ft/lb torque I had previously was unbearably slow getting on the highway with my foot on the floor, closer to 8 seconds 0-60. It's funny how 2 CVT equipped vehicles one chain driven one belt driven can provide such a radically different experience.

If 0-60 is your top priority, buy a different car. Especially since you're not shopping for the 6MT, which is pretty unique for Integra. I've had my 6MT for 2 months and I love it. I've never timed 0-60, but there's more than enough power to pass or get up to speed.

But if you like other things about the car, test drive one.

I watched Kirk Kreifels' test drive video with the Integra CVT and I was pleasantly surprised with how good it seemed. I'm still going for the manual but I wouldn't be disappointed if I somehow had to have an automatic.

Has anyone else's views changed on the CVT?

It depends what you're looking for.
If I was choosing a car for myself it would have to be an A spec with tech and manual, but the car is for my wife.
She drives stick but prefers auto, so my main criteria for the gearbox is that the automatic must be competent enough for me not to curse when I'm driving it, and after a test drive, this CVT doesn't do that at all. It will hold the revs when I want it to, and stays on boil enough for me to keep a fast pace on twisties (the type of pace that will have most Sunday Drivers tut-tutting about who they allow to get driver's licenses).
We weren't comparing with premium German brands though.
We wanted a non-SUV hatchback that handles well and that we can get with a heated steering wheel, so the Civic hatch was out of the question, and Integra goes a few better than the Civic hatch by putting the Si mechanicals in there.
Also considered Mazda3 2.5 turbo and Golf GTI, but the Integra is simply nicer than both (and the base was actually available for quick delivery).
We really don't care about 0-60 times.

I was impressed enough last March by the marketing material to plunk $500 down. I went for the test drive and bolted when they mentioned the markup. But even if the price was MSRP or even lower, I just can’t get passed the acceleration numbers. And I also felt the same way when I test drove a manual GLI which is faster than the Integra. I have a strong preference for a manual car, but I’m beginning to feel that (for me at least) maybe manual transmissions and turbocharged engines are not good combos. Heck, my son has an M4 and believe it or not, I didn’t like that either. (Don’t get me wrong, it’s a screamer, but the uneven off boost -> boost, shift, repeat doesn’t feel refined) The other problem ends up being that the other transmission choice is a CVT, and everyone I know who prefers a manual wouldn’t drive a CVT even if they were paid to do so. So I’m definitely holding off purchasing anything to see if the type S will have the 10 AT. At this point, I’ve given up on what I really want which is a car much like my 9th Gen Accord V6 sedan but has a 6 speed manual and either AWD or LSD.

Its no race car, but coming from a Honda Fit? This thing is way enough for my needs if I want to pass someone or just go for a spirited drive occasionally. At the time I couldnt even buy a civic hatch back which was what I originally wanted. I had to wait for 6 months with 5k mark up. I think if its not too pricy for you, its a wonderful car. But like others have said. just because its called an integra it doesnt have to be one. I think having grown up driving one, I am truly glad it matured to what it is now. I love the growl on this car when I speed up, and honestly....if this was a 300HP car that has a 6 sec 0-60mpg speed up, whats the point. I aint never gonna race anyone. Plus I rather just save some gas and worry about MPG than how much faster one car is to another heh. For me, though, no regrets!
