for fuck's sake. reading that whole thing was such a tease.....and then I saw who said it, probably"Before we get started -- Acura. They've been doin' the business since NINETEEN EIGHTY SIX but you know what else? The In-TEG-ra -- also came out -- in 1986. Now I know what you're thinking, and I'm thinkin' it as well -- Is this the. Best. Performance. Luxury. Sedan. Hatchback. Manual. Transmission. Turbocharged. Option. -- at this price point -- on the market right now? Well guys, I'm happy to say that I have this beautiful INTEGRA right here, and I've gotta tell you -- I cannot wait to get in and drive it and show you guys what Acura has been doing -- but before that, I do want to take a look at a few things -- on the outside of this performance hatchback -- starting with the [etc.]"
- Raiti's Rides review, probably
I think maybe against the Audi A3, which he just reviewed. I realize I'm in the minority but I like Raiti's Rides reviews. At least the dude is excited about every car he drives. His video title tomorrow, most likely: “Is the 2023 Acura Integra a better premium sport compact than the Jetta GLI?”
Yeah that would be a better comparison. I thought someone mentioned he had a GLI at the same time, but I might be mixing things up.I think maybe against the Audi A3, which he just reviewed. That I won't disagree with!Fair enough re: Joe Raiti’s enthusiasm. I did manage to get a sneak peek at DeMuro’s upcoming review:

You might be onto something — if I remember correctly, the newest GLI leans harder into the top trim amenities, like cushier leather seats, etc., and it did away with the base trim. In that respect it does make sense as an Integra competitor, especially when you consider the Teggy and how it stacks up against the comparably spartan Civic Si.Yeah that would be a better comparison. I think Acura wants it compared to the A3, A-class, CLA, and 2-series 4dr, but I think it really will be competing with the Mazda3, GTI, and GLI.You might be onto something — if I remember correctly, the newest GLI leans harder into the top trim amenities, like cushier leather seats, etc., and it did away with the base trim. can you share why you think it will be more closely compared to the mazda3 and vw’s as opposed to the other cars?I think Acura wants it compared to the A3, A-class, CLA, and 2-series 4dr, but I think it really will be competing with the Mazda3, GTI, and GLI.
If they spoke up more about the cargo space, I could see it taking buyers away from X1, Q-something, etc. who don’t really want a crossover but need more cargo space than the sedans.
Your comment about overlap and finding the right sweet spot is pretty interesting. I think it rings true for me actually.BTW you aren’t imagining things re: Raiti comparing the Integra to the GLI — I think his spouse posted it on the gram.
I think the GTI/GLI are close competitors if you want some utility/luxury to go with some sporty handling and a manual transmission. Mazda3 as well to a degree — certainly luxurious for a hatch, but no manual on the turbo. Ultimately as manual options continue to narrow, it’s kind of harder to put something like the 6MT Integra in a neatly-defined category. Seems to occupy a space where it overlaps with a wide variety of buyers’ wants and needs, but finding that sweet spot is perhaps harder to nail down. For me, it seems like it could be a well-balanced jack of all trades — the area of overlap in my own personal Venn diagram.
I’m not sure if that’s what it will be compared to in the press, but I think that’s the buyer who would cross shop these. They’re closer in price than to Audi/BMW/MB, and on the sportier side with the few stick shift options.can you share why you think it will be more closely compared to the mazda3 and vw’s as opposed to the other cars?
