Piano Black is terrible...any fixes

1301 Views 9 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  GryphonBear
I love my Integra, but I HATE the piano black center console. How is this even popular? It scratches just by looking at it. Are there any solutions to fixing the scratches, or getting a cover...or replacement that is not a scratch magnet? Maybe the one from the Civic will fit(just not sure what it'll look like)?

Ditto. I wish it were the same gray texture as the dash.
We have piano black in another car, and people with the same car have made wraps to cover it. I haven’t looked into it for the Integra yet.

There's a few posts on this. I saw a sharp looking carbon fiber appearing wrap.
Maybe...if you talk to a car wrap/PPF/ceramic shop....they could put a piece of PPF on it.....if you want to keep original look. (You we want clear PPF, not 'wrap.' Thinner.) I can't imagine it would cost much.

Original under color shines like new, UV protection, self heals (above 85 degrees, i believe) if scratches or marred, and carries 5 to 10 year warranty on the OUTSIDE of the car, so should be GTG in this application. Remove it whenever and plastic/paint/carbon fiber is the same as the day you put it on.

Expel is most popular. STEC is 'best' (IMO...and a little pricier.)

I just saw the wrap suggestion. 🤦 Doh!

Have you done this with any of your vehicles @davidtaylor103119?
I purchased a replacement center console from Acura, for $60. I'm going to attempt to wrap it. I purchased a carbon fiber and a blue that damn near matches the exterior Blue. I'll post a pic once done.

I had PPF applied to my center console. Was about $50 as I recall. Xpel has a template for the Integra console, so any PPF dealer carrying the brand should be able to cut/install an appropriate piece. Maintains the stock look, which I really prefer over stylized wraps.

Still looks like new after 8 months.

Do you have a link for the replacement console? I would like to buy one and wrap it before taking the existing one off. I found Gloss Blue Raspberry as the closest match to Apex Blue. I bought a sample because I was worried the gloss would fingerprint but it doesn't seem bad with them.
