Am I the only one who has run into dealers listing new cars with discounts that turn out to be clickbait?

"Actually, that particular car just sold/is pre-sold/hasn't arrived yet... but let me get your information and 'talk to my manager' and see what we might be able to put you in......... Good news! It looks like we have one on the truck/that a customer reserved but had to back out on/with a projected build date of XXX... but because of the way the market is/management/availability/excuse of choice, this incoming car is going to have a markup/adjustment/package... but it's only $X and it's very competitive/the best you'll be able to find, what do you think about putting in a deposit?"

In Acura's defense, this was seemingly a Honda dealership thing... like MANY Honda dealerships pulled this trick

I saw a dealer in the DFW area like that. Wow these are the lowest prices in a 100 mile radius. I asked if they had any mandatory charges and he said it was about $3600 in assorted items. I can see close to $1k for different things but $3600 was egregious. The dealership I ordered from was a lot more transparent though they didn't have any inventory on-hand, I had to do a custom order.

Thanks for the welcome! Here is the quote I got. Of course it doesn't factor in the lower interest rate of 3.9% I think Acura is offering right now. Also trying to get more for my trade. Carvana is offering about $20,262 vs the $18,536 for KBB. However it's probably pretty close once you factor in the offset of trade-in on sales tax.

Still not sure if it's a "good" deal. In the fine print:
Registration & Fees include $193.00 DMV fee , $150.00 documentation fee , $989.00 dealership Acura Protection Package (includes wheel locks, tint, nitrogen, door handle cups. and SmartShield) and $45.44 local tax.

Rate subject to approval of credit with a credit score of 800 or higher. Financing arranged through American Honda Finance Corp.. Monthly payment includes all taxes and fees, and any manufacturer rebates. 60 monthly payments of $18.96 per thousand borrowed. Total interest paid over 60 month term is $2,967.
Additional taxes, registration and license fees may apply for out of state purchasers based on their registration address. Taxes are estimates. The dealership will help determine accurate taxes prior to delivery.

Not sure what your credit looks like but 5.1% is insane. Acura is offering 3.9 up to 60 months. If you have access Usaa is currently offering 2.69 up to 63 months or so

5.1% is quite high--my dealership connected me with a local credit union that financed mine at 2.89%. I'd shop around.
